Doctor of Communication Science, researcher at the Advanced Social and Political Research Institute of the University of Latvia. Lecturer of study courses on media literacy, journalism in the era of disinformation, Latvian media environment, communication theory and practice at the University of Latvia, Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences and Turība University.
Besides the academic work, she is a practical media literacy trainer for librarians, teachers and youth, and a manager and educational content creator of media literacy projects. Author of media literacy handbook for librarians “Road signs for media usage” (2021). In 2020, created an online game “Media literacy circus” (www.medijpratiba.lv) which is widely used by teachers. Together with PhD Candidate and journalist Kārlis Dagilis adapted IREX “Learn to Discern” media literacy programme to Latvian language and context (media literacy handbook for youth media literacy trainers).
From 2015 to 2019, worked in the Media Policy Division of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia. Participated in writing of the first Latvian Media Policy Guidelines (2016–2020) and their implementation plan, which were the first policy planning documents that included media literacy in Latvia. Organized the first Latvian Media Literacy Research (survey) in 2017, coordinated network of media literacy stakeholders. During 2016–2019 as a representative of Latvia participated at European Commission Working group of Media literacy experts.
